ITBP Animal Head Constable Recruitment 2024 - Eligibility - PET - PST - Vacancy - Salary - Exam Pattern

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has released a recruitment notification for filling the vacant positions of Head Constable (Dresser Veterinary), Constable (Animal Transport) and Kennelman in the Veterinary Department of ITBP.
Here in this blog, I have briefly explained all the necessary details related to this recruitment examination.

Vacancies:
A total of 128 vacancies has been notified, which is distributed as follows:
A. Head Constable Dresser Veterinary: 09 vacancies.
1. Male (UR: 4, OBC: 3, ST: 1)
2. Female (UR: 1)

B. Constable Animal Transport: 115 vacancies.
1. Male (UR: 44, EWS: 10, OBC: 22, SC: 11, ST: 10)
2. Female (UR: 8, EWS: 2, OBC: 4, SC: 2, ST: 2)

C. Constable Kennelman: 04 vacancies.
1. Male (UR: 3, OBC: 1)
2. Female (Nil)

Application Fees:
For General/EWS/OBC: ₹100

Educational Qualification (as on 10/09/2024):
A. For Head Constable (Dresser Veterinary):
1. 10+2 Intermediate Exam From Any Recognized Board in India, AND,
2. Para Veterinary Course OR Diploma OR Certificate Related to Veterinary (1 Year)

B. For both Constable (Animal Transport) and Constable (Kennelman):
Matriculation or 10th pass from a recognised board.


Age limit (as on 10/09/2024):
Minimum: 18 years
Maximum:
A. For Head Constable & Constable (Kennelman): 27 years
B. For Constable (Animal Transport): 25 years

Age relaxation in the upper age limit:
1.
OBC (NCL): 3 years
2. SC/ST: 5 years
3. Ex-servicemen (General/EWS): 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
4. Ex-servicemen (OBC-NCL): 6 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
5. Ex-servicemen (SC/ST): 8 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age.
6. Children and dependents of those killed in 1984 Sikh Riots and 2002 Gujarat Communal Riots:
• General/EWS: 5 years
• OBC- NCL: 8 years
• SC/ST: 10 years
7. Central Government Civilian Employees who have rendered a minimum of 3 years of continuous service:
• General/EWS/OBC-NCL: till 40 years
• SC/ST: till 45 years


Salary:
A. For Head Constable (Dresser Veterinary):
Pay level: level-4 (₹25500-81100, 2400 Grade Pay)
Basic Pay: ₹25,500
Dearness Allowance (DA): 50%
Gross Salary: ₹52,910 approx.
In-hand salary: ₹46,840 approx.

B. For both Constable (Animal Transport) and Constable (Kennelman):
Pay level: level-3 (₹21700-69100, 2000 Grade Pay)
Basic Pay: ₹21,700
Dearness Allowance (DA): 50%
Gross Salary: ₹46,210 approx.
In-hand salary: ₹41,250 approx.


Job Profile of ITBP Head Constable (Dresser Veterinary):
1.
Managing animal health, providing medical care to the animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs), and performing routine check-ups as well.
2. Dressing wounds, cuts, sores, boils, etc of animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs).
3. Applying ointment, liniments and paints on wounds of animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs).
4. Giving first aid to animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs) in emergency cases.
5. Develop and supervise feeding programs to ensure optimal nutrition in animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs).
6. Maintain detailed records of medical treatments, health status, and other relevant data of animals (ponies/miles/yaks/horses/dogs).

Job Profile of ITBP Constable (Animal Transport):
Animal Transport (AT) is an integral part of all border guarding units of Indo-Tibetan Border Police tasked to operate in high altitude sub-zero terrain of the Indo-China border for supply of ammunition, rations, water, and other stores. The logistic convoys, consists of ponies/mules/yaks and AT troops.
Since modern vehicles can't reach there, ponies/mules/yaks are used for transportation.
Work of ITBP Constable (Animal Transport) includes:
1. Transporting ammunition/rations/waters, etc with help of animals (ponies/mules/yaks).
2. Taking care of the animals used in transportation, and feeding them.
3. Constables posted in Equestrian team takes care of Horses in ITBP.

Job Profile of ITBP Constable (Kennelman):
1.
Transporting animals to and from the kennels (small dog house and animal cages).
2. Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
3. Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.
4. Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
5. Grooming, playing with and administering treatment to animals under the auspices of the Veterinarian.
6. Accompanying animals on walks, if required.
7. Calming animals who are in distress.
8. Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the animals remain comfortable.
9. Reporting significant changes in functioning to the Veterinarian or medical professional on duty.
10. Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.


Training:
Equines, canines and troops of ITBP are given specialized training at National Training Centre for Dog & Animals (NTCD&A), Bhanu (Haryana) and Animal Training School (ATS), Lohitpur, Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh).


Selection Process:
The recruitment to the service will be made in five stages:
A. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
B. Physical Standard Test (PST)
C. Written Test
D. Verification of Original Documents
E. Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

A. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidate's Physical Efficiency will be tested in this test, which will include:
1. Running
(Male: 1.6 km in 7.30 minutes)
(Female: 800 metres in 4.45 minutes)
2. Long Jump
(Male: 11 feet, Female: 09 feet)
3. High Jump
(Male : 3.5 feet, Female: 3 feet)

B. Physical Standard Test (PST):
Candidate's Physical Standard will be tested, which should satisfy these minimum criteria:
1. Height
(Male: 170 cms, Female: 157 cms)
2. Chest
(Male : 80-85 cms, with 5 cm expansion)


C. Written Test:
1. For Head Constable (Dresser Veterinary):

It will include questions from:
1. General Awareness: 5 questions - 5 marks
2. Reasoning: 5 questions - 5 marks
3. General Hindi: 5 questions - 5 marks
4. General English: 5 questions - 5 marks
5. Veterinary Medicine and Treatment: 80 questions - 80 marks

Total: 100 questions - 100 marks
Total Time: 120 minutes (2 hours)

2. For Constable (Animal Transport):
It will include questions from:
1. General Awareness: 25 questions - 25 marks
2. Mathematics: 25 questions - 25 marks
3. Reasoning: 25 questions - 25 marks
4. Basic Knowledge of Hindi/English: 25 questions - 25 marks

Total: 100 questions - 100 marks
Total Time: 120 minutes (2 hours)
• "No Any Negative Marking"

3. For Constable (Kennelman): It will include questions from:
1. General Awareness: 5 questions - 5 marks
2. Quantitative Aptitude/Reasoning: 5 questions - 5 marks
3. General Hindi/English: 10 questions - 10 marks
4. Dog Handling/Kennel Management: 80 questions - 80 marks

Total: 100 questions - 100 marks
Total Time: 120 minutes (2 hours)

D. Document Verification (DV):
Here your Original Documents will be verified and matched with the details given in your application form.

E. Detailed Medical Examination (DME):
In this stage, your overall medical fitness will be checked.
To qualify this stage:
1. You should have all organs in good state.
2. Be free of any chronic disease
3. Have sound Eyes and Ears (no spectacles).
4. Good dental condition
5. Normal Blood Pressure
6. Normal Glucose levels (not diabetic)
7. Normal Heart Rate
8. And there should be no any type of physical deformity like knock knees, flat foot, etc.

After qualifying all these stages, you will be selected into the service based on the merit list prepared by marks scored in the Written Test.
