ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
1. General Duty (GD):
(i) Bachelor Degree with Minimum 60% Marks All Semester/Year.
(ii) Maths, Physics as a Subject in 10+2 Level Examination.
2. Technical (Mechanical):
(i) BE/BTech Engineering Degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with Minimum 60% Marks.
(ii) Maths, Physics as a Subject in 10+2 Level Examination.
3. Technical (Electrical/Electronics):
(i) Engineering Degree in Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics with Minimum 60% Marks.
(ii) Maths, Physics as a Subject in 10+2 Level Examination.
NOTE: Appearing/Final Year Candidates are also eligible to apply. But they have to submit proof of passing Degree examination till 30th November 2025.
AGE LIMIT (as on 01/07/2025):
• Minimum: 21 years
• Maximum: 25 years
• Relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to:
(i) OBC: 03 years
(ii) SC/ST: 05 years
(iii) Personnel serving in Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in Army/Navy/Air Force: 05 years
HEIGHT, CHEST & EYE SIGHT:
1. Height (both Male and Female): 157 cm
2. Chest (only for Male Candidates):
(i) Unexpanded: minimum 80 cm
(ii) Minimum Expansion: 05 cm
3. Eye Sight (for GD):
(i) Uncorrected: 6/6, 6/9
(ii) Corrected (with spectacles): 6/6, 6/6
4. Eye Sight (for Technical):

TRAINING:
The training will start from January 2026, and the candidates selected for training will be required to report at INA Ezhimala to undergo Naval Orientation Course for 44 weeks followed by ab-initio training at various training establishments/units/ships of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
SALARY:
• Rank: Assistant Commandant
• Pay level: level-10 (₹56,100 - 1,77,500)
• Grade Pay: 5400
• Basic Pay: ₹56,100
• Dearness Allowance (DA): 50%
• Travelling Allowance: ₹7200 + DA (50%)
• Gross Salary (excluding HRA): ₹98,000 approx.
• Net in-hand salary (excluding HRA): ₹82,500 approx.
(HRA of 30% will be given only in case quarters are not available)
PROMOTION:
An Assistant Commandant in the Indian Coast Guard gets promotion in the following order:
1. Assistant Commandant (pay level-10)
2. Deputy Commandant (pay level-11)
3. Commandant (Junior Grade) (pay level-12)
4. Commandant (pay level-13)
5. Deputy Inspector General (pay Level-13A)
6. Inspector General (pay Level-14)
7. Additional Director General (pay Level-15)
8. Director General (pay Level-17)
SELECTION PROCESS:
Selection to the service will take place in five stages:
A. Stage-I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT).
B. Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB).
C. Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB).
D. Stage-IV: Medical Examination.
E. Stage-V: Induction.
A. Stage-I: Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT)
This test will be conducted at centres all over India, and will contain questions from:
(i) English: 25 questions
(ii) Reasoning: 25 questions
(iii) General Science & Mathematics: 25 questions
(iv) General Knowledge: 25 questions
• Total: 100 questions
• Total Marks: 400
• Total Time: 2 hours
• Each correct answer will give you +4 marks
• Negative Marking: One-fourth (-1 marks)
• Based on the result of this test, you'll be shortlisted for Stage-II.
B. Stage-II: Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)
• It will be conducted at Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Shillong and Gandhinagar centres.
• Candidates will be screened through a Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
• The CCBT will be in English only and will be of objective type.
• During PP&DT, the candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English, Hindi or a combination of both.
• The Stage-II examination is only of qualifying nature i.e. either Pass or Fail.
• The candidates who have cleared PSB will undergo document verification. The original documents brought by candidates will be verified as per the documents uploaded by the candidates during registration for Stage-II.
• In case of any discrepancy (during Document Verification), the candidature will be cancelled and a ‘Rejection Slip’ indicating the reasons for rejection will be handed over to the candidate.
C. Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB)
• The candidates qualifying for Stage-III will be intimated on completion of Stage-II at respective centres.
• The schedule of Stage-III will be intimated to the candidate on personal Login IDs.
• FSB is conducted at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) located at Noida and spans over five days.
• The candidates are subjected to the Psychological Test, Group Task and Interview (Personality test).
• All documents/certificates verified during PSB are also required to be produced in originals during FSB.
• Board conference is held on the last day and thereafter recommended candidates are sent for Stage-IV.
D. Stage-IV: Medical Examination
• The candidates who clear Stage-III are required to undergo a Special Medical Examination (SME) at Base Hospital, New Delhi.
• Candidates declared unfit in SMB will be also included in Merit List, but they have to appeal within 21 days of completion of SMB.
• If declared unfit during appeal medicals, such candidates have the option to request the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) for review of the results. Coast Guard HQ will consider such requests and the Review Medical Board (RMB) will be granted.
• The decision of the (RMB) will be final and no further appeal will be accepted.
E. Stage-V: Induction
The candidates who clear Stage - IV and stand in All India Merit List as per the vacancies available will be provisionally selected for training and will be required to report at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala for Naval Orientation Course (NOC).
• All India Merit List will be based on combined marks of Stage-I and Stage-III.
• Candidates reporting at INA Ezhimala for training will first undergo photo and biometric verification.
• The last date of induction at INA will tentatively be 27 Dec 2025. The exact date will be mentioned in the Appointment letter.
