New India Assurance Co. Ltd. (NIACL) has released notification for recruitment of Administrative Officers (AO) in Generalists and Specialists (Accounts) Cadre.

Vacancy in NIACL AO 2024 Recruitment:
1. For Generalists Cadre: 120 vacancies
(UR: 50, EWS: 12, OBC: 32, SC: 18, ST: 8)

2. For Accounts Cadre: 50 vacancies
(UR: 21, EWS: 5, OBC: 13, SC: 7, ST: 4)

TOTAL: 170 vacancies.

Educational Qualification (as on 01/09/2024):
1. For Generalist AO:
Graduate or Post graduate in any discipline from a recognised University with at least 60% marks for General candidates and at least 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

2. For Specialist (Accounts) AO:
Chartered Accountant (ICAI)/Cost and Management Accountant (ICAI) and Graduation/Post-graduation in any discipline with min 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwBD), OR,
MBA Finance/PGDM Finance/ M.Com with min 60% (55% for SC/ST/PwBD).


Age Limit (as on 01/09/2024):
Minimum Age: 21 years
Maximum Age: 30 years
Relaxation in the upper age limit shall be as follows:
1. OBC-NCL: 3 years
2. SC/ST: 5 years
3. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years
4. Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 01.09.2024 and have been released on completion of assignment/on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service/on invalidment: 5 years
5. Defence service personnel disabled in operation: 5 years
6. Existing Confirmed Employees of Public Sector General Insurance Companies (including GIC & Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd.): 8 years


Service Bond:
Before joining as probationer, the selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking to serve the Company for a minimum period of four years including probation period. In the event of their resigning from the Company before the expiry of the bond period, they will be liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to one year’s gross salary paid to them during the year of probation which could be proportionately reduced depending on the length of service rendered.

BOND PERIOD: 4 years
BOND AMOUNT: One year Gross Salary (₹88,000 x 12 = ₹10,56,000)
Extra Amount to be paid (if leaving during Probation): ₹25,000


Salary of NIACL Administrative Officer:
Pay Scale: ₹50925-2500(14)-85925-2710(4)-96765
Basic Pay: ₹50,925
Gross Salary: ₹88,000 approx (in Metro City).
In-hand salary: ₹74,840 approx.


Job Profile of NIACL AO (Generalist):
1. General Administrative Tasks.
2. Policy Implementation.
3. Coordination across departments.
4. Handling customer queries.
5. Compliance with regulations.
6. Ensure adherence to insurance regulations.
7. Prepare reports for regulatory authorities (like IRDAI).
8. Oversee Claim Processing.
9. Participate in special projects.
10. Implement new systems and processes.
11. Collaborate with other departments.
12. Conduct training sessions.


Job Profile of NIACL AO (Specialist - Accounts):
1. Financial data collection, analysis, and reporting.
2. Creating regular reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and so on.
3. Data presentation to managers, investors, and other entities.
4. Keeping accurate financial records.
5. Auditing and resolving discrepancies.
6. Calculating taxes.
7. Keeping up to date on current financial and accounting legislation.
8. Preparing budgets and financial forecasts to assist management in decision-making.
9. Undertake monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities.
10. Analyze and report on financial status, including income statement variances.
11. Enhance systems and procedures, and take corrective action.


Promotion of NIACL Administrative Officer:
1. Scale - I: Administrative Officer (AO)
2. Scale - II: Manager (Branch Manager) (after 3-5 years as AO).
3. Scale - III: Senior Manager (Divisional Manager) (after 4-6 years as Manager)
4. Scale - IV: Chief Manager (Regional Manager) (after 5-7 years as Sr. Manager)
5. Scale - V: Assistant General Manager (after 6-8 years as Chief Manager).
6. Scale - VI: Deputy General Manager (after 5-7 years as AGM).
7. Scale - VII: General Manager (after 5-7 years as DGM).
8. Scale - VIII: Managing Director (after 3-5 years as GM).
9. Scale - IX: Chief Managing Director (selection from existing MDs on seniority basis).


Selection Process:
The selection process consists of three stages:
A. Phase I - On-line Preliminary Examination
B. Phase II - Descriptive Examination
C. Phase III - Interview

A. Phase I - On-line Preliminary Examination:
This test contains questions from:
a. English Language: 30 questions - 30 marks - 20 minutes
b. Reasoning Ability: 35 questions - 35 marks - 20 minutes
c. Quantitative Aptitude: 35 questions - 35 marks - 20 minutes

Total: 100 questions - 100 marks.
Total Time: 60 minutes.
Negative Marking: -0.25 marks (1/4th)
Medium of Test: English and Hindi (Except English language, which is only in English).

Note: On the basis of marks scored in this test, candidates equal to 15 times the vacancy, will be shortlisted for Phase II - Descriptive Examination.

B. Phase II - Main Examination: Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 30 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online.

B.1.1. Objective Paper (for Generalists):
It will contain questions from:
a. Test of Reasoning: 50 questions - 50 marks - 40 minutes
b. Test of English Language: 50 questions - 50 marks - 40 minutes
c. Test of General Awareness: 50 questions - 50 marks - 30 minutes
d. Test of Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions - 50 marks - 40 minutes

Total: 200 questions - 200 marks.
Total Time: 150 minutes (2.5 hours).
Negative Marking: -0.25 marks (1/4th)
Medium of Test: English and Hindi (Except English language, which is only in English).

B.1.2. Objective Paper (for Specialists - Accounts):
It will contain questions from:
a. Test of Reasoning: 40 questions - 40 marks - 30 minutes
b. Test of English Language: 40 questions - 40 marks - 30 minutes
c. Test of General Awareness: 40 questions - 40 marks - 25 minutes
d. Test of Quantitative Aptitude: 40 questions - 40 marks - 30 minutes
e. Technical & Professional Knowledge: 40 questions - 40 marks - 35 minutes

Total: 200 questions - 200 marks.
Total Time: 150 minutes (2.5 hours).
Negative Marking: -0.25 marks (1/4th)
Medium of Test: English and Hindi (Except English language, which is only in English).

B.2. Descriptive Paper:
It will be a Test of English Language, and will be conducted in online mode (CBT).
• Answers will be typed on keyboard.
• This descriptive paper is only qualifying in nature, and will not be used for short listing for interview or final selection.
• This Test of English Language will consist of:
1. Letter Writing: 10 marks
2. Essay Marks: 20 marks
Total: 30 marks
Total Time: 30 minutes
Qualifying marks: 50% (15/30) for General/EWS/OBC, and 45% (13.5/30) for SC/ST/PwBD.

Note: On the basis of marks scored in this Mains Stage (Objective), candidates equal to approx 3-5 times the vacancy, will be shortlisted for Phase III - Interview.

C. Phase III - Interview
Marks of the interview has not been given in the notification, but it is written that:
"In making the final merit list, the weightage of Phase II - Mains Examination (Objective) and Interview will be 75:25".
