Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released notification for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for December 2024 session.

Exam Frequency: Twice a year
Session: December 2024.
Conducting Body: Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Eligible: Both Male and Female.

What is CTET?
CTET Full Form is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test and is a bi-annual exam conducted by the CBSE board. It is conducted twice a year in two sessions - July and December.
The exam tests one’s ability to work as a primary and elementary teacher. The candidates who qualify for the examination are awarded the CTET Certificate.
The CTET exam is held for two levels:
a. Paper-1: Primary teacher (class 1 to 5) and,
b. Paper-2: Upper primary teacher (class 6 to 8).

Application Begins: 17/09/2024
Last Date for Registration: 16/10/2024
Last Date Fee Payment: 16/10/2024
CTET Exam Date: 1st December 2024
Paper-1: Evening (2:30 to 5 PM)
Paper-2: Morning (9:30 to 12 PM)
Application Fees:
A. Both Paper-1 & Paper-2:
General/EWS/OBC: ₹1200
SC/ST/PH: ₹600
2. For any one paper:
General/EWS/OBC: ₹1000
SC/ST/PH: ₹500
Educational Qualification:
A. For Primary (class 1 to 5):
1. 12th pass (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
2. 12th pass (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) (Special Education).
3. 12th pass with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
B. For Upper Primary (class 6 to 8):
1. Bachelor Degree with at least 50% marks and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed)
2. Bachelor Degree with at least 50% marks and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)
3. 12th pass (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)
4. 12th pass (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
5. Bachelor Degree with at least 50% marks and Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) (Special Education).
6. Post Graduation with at least 55% marks and three-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
NOTE: Final year/appearing students are also eligible to apply.
Age limit:
Minimum: 18 years
Maximum: No limit
Attempt Limit: No any (unlimited attempts).
Exam Pattern:
A. For Paper-1: Primary teacher (class 1 to 5)
(i) Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(ii) Mathematics: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(iii) Environmental Studies: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(iv) Language I: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(v) Language II: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
TOTAL: 150 MCQs - 150 Marks
Total TIME: 150 minutes (2.5 hours)
B. For Paper-2: Upper primary teacher (class 6 to 8)
(i) Child Development & Pedagogy: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(ii) Speciality subject: 60 MCQs - 60 Marks
(iii) Language I: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
(v) Language II: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
TOTAL: 150 MCQs - 150 Marks
Total TIME: 150 minutes (2.5 hours)
• Here; "Speciality subject" means:
(a) Mathematics and Science: for Mathematics and Science teachers.
(b) Social Studies/Social Science: for Social Studies/Social Science teacher.
(c) Either Language I or Language II: for all other teachers.
• You have to choose Language I/Language II from the following:
(i) English (Code 01)
(ii) Hindi (Code 02)
(iii) Assamese (Code 03)
(iv) Bengali (Code 04)
(v) Garo (Code 05)
(vi) Gujarati (Code 06)
(vii) Kannada (Code 07)

CERTIFICATE AND MARK SHEET:
CBSE will provide Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) mark-sheets to all candidates and eligibility certificates to successful candidates in Digital Format in their DigiLocker account.
Validity of CTET Certificate:
The Validity Period of CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be for life time for all categories. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
Benefits and use of CTET Certificate:
1. Those who clear Paper-1 becomes Primary teacher (PRT) and can teach students of class 1 to 5.
2. Those who clear Paper-2 becomes Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), and can teach students of class 6 to 8.
3. CTET Certificate can be used to fill government teacher recruitment forms of any state.
4. CTET Certificate can be also used in Central government teacher recruitment exams like KVS, NVS, EMRS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.
5. CTET Certificate can also be used in government recruitment for schools under administrative control of UTs of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi.
6. According to CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws, it will be mandatory for teachers (Class 1 to 8) of any unaided/private school to qualify/pass the CTET/STET exam.
7. Some top private schools consider CTET scores for shortlisting candidates for teaching positions.
8. You can also become a teacher trainer in teacher training colleges.
