Delhi Police Sub Inspector (SI) - Job Profile - Salary - Promotion - Eligibility - Selection Process

Delhi Police is one of the state police forces of India, whose work jurisdiction is Union Territory of Delhi.
Though it looks like a state police, it's actually a central police force, as it comes directly under the "Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India". The promotions, transfers, etc are done by the MHA, not the Delhi State Government.

Here in this blog, I have discussed the salary, job profile, promotion and selection process of Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police.

Let's start with the salary.
The salary of Delhi Police is the highest among all the police forces in India. It is probably due to two main factors:
(i) Posting of Delhi Police is always in Delhi, which is X-city, and so HRA is 30% and TA is also 3600, which makes the salary higher than other police forces.
(ii) It comes under the central government, and the allowances paid by central government is always higher than the state government.

SALARY of Delhi Police SI:
• Pay Level: 6
• Pay-band: ₹9300-34800

• Gross Salary: ₹72,000 approx.
• NET In-hand Salary: ₹62,800 approx.

JOB PROFILE of a Delhi Police SI:
(i) Arrest with/without a warrant.
(ii) Searching an individual; his or her premises/vehicle.
(iii) Examining necessary documents during an investigation.
(iii) Registering an FIR against an individual
(iv) Investigate all cases under the Bhartiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS), as well as any special laws sanctioned by the Parliament, or laws of the state.
(v) Use force to disperse unruly mobs to restore law and order.
(vi) Supervise constables, head constables & ASIs.
(vii) As a Station House Officer (SHO), he/she is responsible for administration of the police station.
(viii) Any other responsibilities assigned by the superior officers.

PROMOTION of a Delhi Police SI:
The promotion of a Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police takes place according to the following hierarchy:
